Overview

This page provides guidance and recommendations for the brain imaging services that should be provided to ALZ-NET participants. Resources include recommend training, acquisition protocols, scanner information, required sequences, and reporting guidelines and templates for Positron Emission Tomography (PET) and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI). Note: All brain imaging procedures that ALZ-NET participants undergo are conducted per local practice, applicable procedure standards, appropriate use guidelines, and applicable FDA labels of Alzheimer’s disease therapies.

FDA-Cleared AI Products

Through collaborations with various companies, participating ALZ-NET Imaging Facilities can receive discounted use of certain FDA-cleared, commercially available AI products that aid in the clinical workflow of Alzheimer's disease diagnosis and treatment. Products include:   

  • icobrain ARIA – a computer-assisted detection (CADe) and diagnosis (CADx) software device intended for use as concurrent reading aid to help trained radiologists in the detection, assessment, and characterization of Amyloid Related Imaging Abnormalities (ARIA). 510(k) Premarket Notification for icobrain ARIA
  • icobrain dm – a software device intended for automatic labeling, visualization and volumetric quantification of segmentable brain structures. 510(k) Premarket Notification for icobrain dm

Templated Radiology Reports Available for Use 

Baseline ARIA - Published by RadElements, a catalog of radiology Common Data Elements (CDE), indexed by title and controlled terms, for streamlined radiology reporting. Developed in collaboration between the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) and the American College of Radiology (ACR). See demo for instructions on how to download and integrate CDEs into Powerscribe.
